ENELECO Consulting Services Obtains a License to Use ADICA’s ENPEP Software for National Energy Planning in Romania
In June 2003, ENELECO Consulting Services of Bucharest, Romania, obtained a license to use ADICA’s Energy and Power Evaluation Program (ENPEP) for national energy planning in Romania. ENELECO intends to use the ENPEP software to investigate the economic and environmental impacts of power sector modernization and transition to a market economy. Primary issues to be analyzed for alternative energy development options, include:
• Effect of policies and measures on energy prices and security of energy supply
• Competitiveness of electricity generation technologies and demand-side management measures
• Implementation of the EU environmental standards
• Potential increased penetration of renewable energy
Under an earlier project funded by the World Bank, ENPEP was utilized to develop a long-term energy strategy for Romania. The study involved conducting an integrate analysis of the future energy supply and demand system of the country, along with estimating the associated environmental burdens and evaluating greenhouse mitigation options.
About ENPEP:
The Energy and Power Evaluation Program was developed by Argonne National Laboratory for use in energy/ environmental analysis and GHG mitigation assessment.
