Korea Electric Power Research Institute Obtains GTMax License
Argonne National Laboratory’s Center for Energy, Environmental and Economic Systems Analysis (CEEESA) is currently collaborating with the Korea Electric Power Research Institute (KEPRI). The first phase of collaboration focuses on analyzing the Korean electric power system, taking into consideration the ongoing deregulation of the electric power market as well as environmental and economic constraints. This effort is expected to help the Korean government and its generating companies implement an integrated resource plan that accounts for the many complex and changing environmental, economic and institutional constraints.
Advanced software tools will be applied in the analysis, including the GTMax model distributed by ADICA Consulting and the WASP and SIMPACTS tools available through the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). As the sole commercial distributor of electricity market analysis software developed by CEEESA, ADICA recently transferred the latest version of GTMax for use at KEPRI.
About GTMax
The Generation and Transmission Maximization (GTMax) software simulates the dispatch of electric generating units and economic trade of energy among utility companies and other market participants. The model computes hourly energy transactions, production costs and market clearing prices. GTMax worldwide clients include electric utilities, power merchants, transmission companies, regulatory authorities and research institutes.
About WASP
The WASP model determines the least-cost generating system expansion plan that adequately meets demand for electrical power while respecting user-specified constraints on system reliability. The International Atomic Energy Agency distributes WASP, which is one of the most widely used tools for electricity system planning.
About ADICA
ADICA Consulting combines industry knowledge, distinguished professionals, and cutting-edge strategic analysis software to provide consulting services to Government Agencies and Energy Companies worldwide. Headquartered in Oak Brook, Illinois, ADICA provides Robust, Accurate, and Relevant insights with advanced analytics created by Argonne National Laboratory.
