The World Bank Selects ADICA to Train Mexican Energy Analysts in the Use of the WASP-IV Model for Wind Power Analysis
The World Bank contracted ADICA together with Argonne National Laboratory, to assist the Mexican Power Company (CFE) in conducting a power system analysis to evaluate the economics of a wind farm under consideration for construction in Mexico.
Global Environment Facility (GEF) considered covering the incremental costs to stimulate development of 100 MW wind capacity.
Objective of the analysis was to determine the incremental cost (capacity and energy) to CFE that GEF would cover.
The ADICA/Argonne team:
• Defined a methodology for evaluating
wind energy using the WASP-IV
computer model,
• Provided training to Mexican analysts at
CFE in the use of this methodology, and
• Assisted CFE staff with implementing the model and interpreting results to analyze a wind farm considered for construction in the country. |
